What it is

A longevity-circuit celebrity. Cell and animal telomere/pineal findings exist; they have not been converted into rigorous, replicated human outcome trials. 'Adds years' is marketing, not a result.

How it works

A tetrapeptide associated with the Khavinson pineal-peptide line. Claims include telomerase activation in cultured cells and pineal/melatonin-axis effects. In vivo human geroprotective proof is not at contemporary trial standard.

The evidence

Khavinson's group published telomerase and gerontology papers over decades. Independent replication is limited, sample sizes are small, and endpoints are often biomarkers rather than hard clinical events. Interesting biochemistry, thin clinical inference.

Sourcing

Not FDA-approved. Research chemical. Pineal peptide extracts (epithalamin) were used in some post-Soviet clinical settings; that is not a US approval.

Not approved. July 2026 PCAC recommended 503A listing for Epitalon-related bulk substances (non-binding). No US pharmacy product. Research-chemical tetrapeptide sales are the unofficial market.

Will insurance pay?

Grey market

Longevity-forum staple, often stacked with other 'geroprotectors.' Khavinson-era pineal extracts are not the same as a US-compounded AEDG vial, and neither is an approved drug.

Risks

Short-sequence peptides can still be bioactive. Unregulated injectables carry the usual sterility risk. Telomerase-activation hypotheses deserve a cancer-biology pause, even if human exposure data are sparse.
